Just 40 minutes’ drive north of Gulu town is Fort Patiko (Sir Samuel Baker’s Camp) situated in a nice rural area of Ajulu on Ocecu hill. This important historical location was a modern slavery hub for the Arabs slave masters. While the history and remains of the camp site are rather interesting, the natural beauty of the landscape is breath taking with fantastic views of isolated rocky outcrops beyond the fort with views of vast open vegetation seen miles away. There is also a nice opportunity to take a walk/hike in the surrounding area to one of the close hills.
